Nanovate nanocrystalline foils are available in sheet or roll format in a variety of thicknesses (generally 15 microns - 250 microns) and have exceptional mechanical properties, including:

  • High hardness
  • High strength
  • Good elongation to failure

We make them in a variety of alloys including:

  • Unalloyed Nanocrystalline Nickel
  • Low thermal expansion (CTE) Nanocrystalline Nickel-Iron (an Invar Composition)
  • Low stress nanocrystalline Nickel-Cobalt
  • High purity Copper
  • Other Nickel, Cobalt, Iron and Copper alloys available upon request 

Because of the fine grain structure, these foils etch exceptionally well by laser etching without embrittling or chemical etching (photoetching) processes which result in sharp features which have excellent durability and high electrical conductivity.

 

Our customers have found excellent applications for these high performance materials in:

  • SMT Solder Stencils (hard nickel alloy blanks for high durability, high smoothness, and excellent feature definition)
  • Armor Panel Foils (For stab resistance and mitigating shock wave damage)
  • In circuit test (ICT) contact probes for semiconductor chips and PCB testing
  • Applications where hardness or strength of Stainless Steel is too low (etched screen filters for vehicle exhaust for example)
  • Anti-fretting foils for reducing fretting damage between mismatched materials like titanium and steel 

In addition to foils, we can also electroform complex shapes from our materials.
